Training – Grassroots vs Treetops

The Brave Discussion’s multi-media, interactive curriculum combines storytelling, critical media analysis, media skills and narrative strategy with organising and movement building. Read more about our methodology here (PDF FILE)

The common thread is that grassroots projects with local ownership, often propelled by exceptionally bright and driven social entrepreneurs who had encountered the ‘treetops’ efforts and modified them to create far more effective bottom-up models using a compelling story with action taking. That is the crucial way forward for a new movement focusing on the importance of having The Brave Discussion.

The Brave Discussion uses Signature story-based training to help a company of ordinary girls, apply framing, narrative power analysis, messaging and harnessing the power of social media to spread the discussion.

Our workshops offer girl activists the lens of “narrative power analysis” to surface and analyze the stories they seek to transform in their communities and the training to use social media to maximise message impact.

The trainings give activists direct experience using the Battle of the Story tool –a method that can be applied to any issue or campaign story.

The Brave Discussion also offers a wide range of skills and analysis trainings ranging from short tutorials to intensive multi-day seminars including: grassroots organizing, media and PR skills, strategic campaigning, storytelling skills,  facilitation and group decision making.

We can custom design a training curriculum to meet the needs of your local community, cause, church or, specific campaign.
